Basic requirements and informative advances for visiting abroad

PASSPORT REQUIREMENT

The number 1 requirement for visiting any other country is passport. Citizens of a country require valid passport for visiting other countries except for a few neighboring countries, which don’t demand passport from specific citizens.

VISA REQUIREMENT

Most of the countries demand visa from the visitors except for a very few that allows a “VISA FREE” entry to tourists. Some countries offer “VISA ON ARRIVAL” while most of countries request a procedure to be followed before granting a visa. VISA DENIALS are quite common and a deep research in this regard is vital to assert VISA APPROVAL.

IMMIGRATION PROCESS

The immigration rules and essential documents like: Passport, flight tickets, etc. should be kept handy and safe. The frequently asked questions while immigration include:

  • Where are you going?
  • What is your purpose of the visit?
  • Who are you going with?
  • The amount of money you have?
  • Where will you stay there?

In this case, you need to present your hotel booking receipts (if case comes).

  • When will you return?

In this case, you need to present your return tickets besides answering the questions.

After this short interview session, you get your visa on your home country’s airport. In case of VISA ON ARRIVAL, the questions  may slightly change, but the essence of asking the questions remains same.

Every country has different rules for immigration, check for these rules before visiting the one.

TRAVEL CARDS

International travel cards are a better option for commuting within the location abroad for hassle free roaming but always keep some cash besides travel card as taxi drivers or other local transport means may demand cash only. Also, keep in mind to carry some cash through airport transfers as for many purchases you need cash, such as for visa, local sim, and food at small eateries.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE

You can get the fair exchange rates at local banks and ATM’s as compared to airport vendors and local money Exchangers but keep yourself updated about the ATM charges. The money Exchangers at various locations are mostly insecure as they can mislead you by giving lesser rates or fake currency, which is ultimately your loss. It’s better to get your money exchanged through authorized means such as banks and ATM’s.

INTERNATIONAL CREDIT/ DEBIT CARDS

Not every bank allows credit/ debit card access at international boundaries, so confirming about it from your bank is most desirable to avoid any confusion.

PRIOR BOOKINGS

  • HOTEL BOOKING

Once you have planned your visit, book your hotel, guest room or hostels to grab the best deals. Select your accommodation according to your budget, priority, location and amenities.
booking.com  and airbnb.com are great accommodation booking sites.

  • TAXI RENTAL

Prior booking of taxis relieve you from the stress of finding taxi every other time and it also helps in convenient airport transfers and easy travelling through busy roads.

klook.com is one of such useful booking sites.

  • ADVANCE TICKET BOOKING FOR CROWDED TOURIST SPOTS

Booking of tickets beforehand can relieve you from wasting time standing in the long queues at crowded tourist locations and at better prices as well.

Exploring colors of Malaysia

Malaysia- A land of diverse food, people and culture

Essentially, travelling is an inevitable part of our lives. Most of us find the pleasure of life in travelling to the best places in the world. As it is said, “life is a book and those who don’t travel read only single page”, travelling is important not only to satisfy the holiday moods or to enjoy the scenic beauty of the places, but also to gain the knowledge of cultural evolution that signifies the diverse nature of the people residing in different parts of the world.

I am a kind of person who never misses a single chance to travel. As soon as I got an opportunity to spend a considerable time in Kuala Lumpur, I quickly grabbed it. That was a three day tour and I got the most out of it. Malaysia is a land of cultural diversity accumulating the various communities. The multi-community nature of people residing there, accounts for the variety of authentic flavors around the globe available in Malaysia.

China Town

We (I and my husband) spent our first day in Kuala Lumpur roaming around nearby streets and local markets exploring the city. The memorable stuff for family and friends can be purchased from local sovereign shops, China Town is the famous market to get cheaper items, but you need to be good enough at bargaining. We also relished the authentic food items and local sweets there.

Kuala Lumpur City Centre

Kuala Lumpur, being the capital, offers many tourist places for the visitors. The sky high Petronas Twin towers are a treat to the eye and the mesmerizing beauty of the KL towers is simply out of this world.

Kuala Lumpur City Tour

It is a delight to view Malaysia’s cultural significance at Independence Square and watching wonderful King’s place is a marvel itself. There are many mosques to visit, the National Mosque being one of them and many malls for shopping and restaurants to relish different cuisine food.

Beryl’s Chocolate Kingdom

A variety of chocolates can be purchased for the ones having sweet tooth, from the Beryl’s Chocolate Kingdom, the chocolate factory and purchasing unit.

Sunway Lagoon

We enjoyed a full day in Sunway Lagoon theme park that includes six types of theme parks.

The temperature is quite humid and the rain can be expected any time. There are many islands in Malaysia, to beat the heat of Summers for the perfect beach holiday. Langkawi Island and Penang Island are the most famous ones that give you the best beach Vacation.

Visit Malaysia (truly Asia) to see the fusion of Malaysian culture with several other Asian cultures, the authentic food, warmth of the people and many tourist attractions to take you to the holiday of your dreams.

Communicating with strangers abroad..

Talking to strangers can be an arduous task for some people while few people keep themselves engaged in communicating with others and thoroughly enjoy this activity. For the ones who are visiting abroad, I would like to share tips for bridging the communication gap.

  • Learn a few basic words in the local language of place you are visiting

This fun activity not only enhances the vocabulary but practicing a few greetings in the local language can lead to pleasurable encounters.

  • Google translate- your personal interpreter

Translating some sentences using Google translate is a common practice and it acts as a life saver when no other option works.

This way you can also engage yourself in fun activities with local people.

Well, as all fingers are not the same, encounter with a wrong person can be expected anywhere and at anytime, so there is a need to remain alert in this respect. Meeting with strangers can be annoying at few instances and it might be an unpleasant experience. I would suggest to do a little research beforehand to avoid any such awkward situation.

  • Stay updated about common practices at the location, abroad.

Keep yourself updated about religious and socio-cultural practices about the place, so that you might not end up in hurting someone’s sentiments.

BONUS TIP: Some of the scams are frequently observed in specific countries. Please be alert about such scams.

How being on an island changed my life!

My most peaceful time in Langkawi

I have been to Langkawi island and that happens to be my most peaceful days of life. The short stay at the island has completely changed my life, obviously for all good reasons.

The reasons to describe why it had been a wonderful experience for me:

1. The serenity of the place

2. The pristine beaches

3. The calm and relaxing stay

4. The gorgeous mountains that seems to be describing a completely different story.

Langkawi has got them all..

Being on an island is so reviving tat you almost forget yourself and every other thing on the planet. It becomes just you and the place! It’s like a secret conversation that no one is gonna hear.

The aura of the place rejuvenates your soul and when you return, you are a changed person. Exactly this happened to me when I cam back from Langkawi, the eagle island. This vacation has made me a nature loving person and I admire the natural treasures more than before.

I cherish every moment spent over there and believe that I have somehow taken the essence of the place here with me, which will stay forever and ever…!!

What happened on our first international trip!

Flight delay and baggage loss couldn’t stop us from having the most out of our Langkawi island trip!

It was our first international trip and finally the most awaited day arrived.. I and my husband managed to sort everything well before the departure but an unexpected fight delay occurred. This is something no one wants to face but not everyone is fortunate enough to get all the desires fulfilled just at the swirl of a magic wand.

Another surprise, rather I should say- “shock” was awaiting us when we landed Langkawi! One of our checked-in baggage didn’t arrive. Told you..! life is not like what we think, it is a storehouse of surprises and a few of them are bad! Well, somehow we tackled the situation and managed to make the airlines deliver our baggage at our next destination- Kuala Lumpur after two days. Also, duty free shopping destinations are always there to the rescue! Now, beginning with the locations and spots we covered in our “1 day and a few hours” tour in Langkawi.
